11th International Union Against Sexually Transmitted Infections World Congress, 9 - 12 November, 2009

This Congress provides an opportunity for specialists and trainees in sexual health, HIV medicine, public health, microbiology, epidemiology and behavioural science from the northern and southern hemispheres to share skills and experience. 5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogensis, Treatment and Prevention, 19 - 22 July, 2009

As the fifth conference in the HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention series, IAS 2009 featured reports on the latest developments in the areas of basic, clinical and prevention science. More than 30 abstracts about male circumcision were accepted for oral presentations or poster sessions at the conference abstracts relating to male circumcision were presented at the conference.

Also, the AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition (AVAC) created a "roadmap" that provides information on sessions and events of interest for HIV prevention research advocates. 18th International Society for STD Research (ISSTDR), 28 June - 1 July, 2009

The ISSTDR exists to promote research on sexually transmitted diseases. During the three decades since the Society was founded, the ISSTDR meetings have been the premier scientific conferences that address the entire breadth of research on STD, including HIV infections, and encompassing microbiology, virology, immunobiology, pathogenesis, and other basic sciences; clinical sciences, social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology, and prevention; and research in health services, public health, and prevention policy.

4th Annual South Africa AIDS Conference, March 31 - April 3, 2009

Our theme this year: ‘Scaling up for success’ recognised that there was an urgency to take stock of best practices in treatment and prevention and to scale these up sufficiently to begin to roll back the onslaught in numbers and impact that the epidemic is currently waging in Southern Africa.
