A 9 December 2021 satellite session of the 21st International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA 2021) examined the past and potential impact of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) on HIV in eastern and southern Africa. Convened by the Joint United Nations on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the U.S. President's Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the satellite included a presentation of the preliminary findings of a landscape assessment of the sustainability of VMMC programmes across the priority countries and modelling results on the cost-effectiveness of continuing VMMC programmes for five years. ICASA 2021 was held in Durban, South Africa, and virtually from 6 to 11 December.
