PEPFAR's Best Practices for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Site Operations: A Service Guide for Site Operations (Introduction, Rationale, and Operational Guidelines)

PEPFAR's Best Practices for Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Site Operations: A Service Guide for Site Operations

Developed for use at facilities or other sites where voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) will be offered, the PEPFAR guide provides implementing partners with a comprehensive and consistent process for establishing VMMC services for HIV prevention. It draws upon numerous guidance documents developed by UNAIDS, the World Health Organization, and the VMMC Technical Working Group of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

This first part of the guide includes a list of acronyms, an introduction, sections providing the background and rationale for the guide, operational guidelines on different aspects of site operations, figures, and tables. Each operational guideline is a stand‐alone section that includes an overview, timeline, useful tools, references to WHO‐endorsed guidance, and relevant case studies.
