“Man, what took you so long? Social and individual factors affecting adult attendance at voluntary medical male circumcision services in Tanzania

Published in the first issue of the journal Global Health: Science and Practice in 2012, this study aimed to identify the barriers and facilitators to uptake of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) among older men in Tanzania’s Iringa region. Both social and personal barriers to obtaining VMMC were identified. Facilitators included awareness of HIV-prevention benefits.
