The pace of progress in reducing new HIV infections, increasing access to treatment, and ending AIDS-related deaths has slowed, UNAIDS’ Global AIDS Update for 2019 reports. The report shows a mixed picture, with some countries making impressive gains while others are experiencing increases in new HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths. A section on voluntary medical male circumcision notes that in 2018, 4.1 million men and boys became circumcised in the 15 priority countries in eastern and southern Africa.
