Quality management has been central to the success and integrity of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) programmes since their inception. External quality assurance (EQA) provides comprehensive, objective assessments of the quality of programmes; continuous quality improvement (CQI) enables implementers to consistently manage the quality of their own services. Project IQ has adapted standards-based tools used in PEPFAR-supported programmes to reflect current standards of practice and emerging safety issues. Interactive digital versions of these tools will soon be available.
