IntraHealth International delivers a portfolio of health and HIV programs in Tanzania that includes a comprehensive package of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention and associated demand creation activities. In 2012 IntraHealth partnered with a local NGO, the Tanzanian Youth Alliance (TAYOA), to launch an intensive social mobilisation initiative that utilises mobile telephone short messages service and popular opinion leaders on the ground to increase demand for VMMC services. This case study is one of the promising practices in VMMC documented by BBC Media Action in 2013.
