
During a Project IQ webinar about the benefits of partnerships and collaboration in VMMC programmes, the Aurum Institute presented a community engagement strategy, “The Moving Imbizo,” being used in South Africa to increase demand for voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC). In keeping with the Zulu word “Imbizo” — a gathering convened by a king or traditional leader — in this strategy, local governments, municipal departments, nongovernmental organizations, and other partners call community meetings to provide opportunities for dialogue on health-related matters, including VMMC.
