Guidance from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) includes information about how the COVID-19 pandemic may affect voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) services. The document acknowledges that provision of new VMMCs may be delayed or paused if guidance about mass gatherings renders it impractical and states that post-operative follow-up of circumcisions that have already occurred should continue, but providers should consider conducting initial screening by telephone. The guidance also addresses task-shifting and reporting of adverse events. New guidance will be added to the document as the situation evolves; the most recent version can be found under “Resources” on the US State Department’s page on PEPFAR and COVID-19.
