A campaign called “Be the Pride of Your Tribe” was conducted in the Uganda districts of Bududa, Mbale, Sironko, Bulambuli, Bukwo, Kween, and Kapchorwa, where STAR-E supports health facilities to provide free safe male circumcision (SMC) services. This campaign used mass media and interpersonal communication to encourage young men to seek SMC at health facilities and worked with traditional leaders to encourage community support for SMC. This case study is one of the promising practices in VMMC documented by BBC Media Action in 2013.
