UNAIDS and WHO Progress Brief: Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision, November 2019

thumbnail_VMMC_progress_brief_Dec_2019

More than 22 million voluntary medical male circumcisions were performed in 15 priority countries from 2008 to 2018 — about half of them in the past three years, a progress brief from UNAIDS and the World Health Organization reports. Although the pace of scale-up has increased in recent years, it varies by country and is still not meeting the target of 5 million per year. The brief provides data on VMMCs by country and age and modelling estimates of past and future impact.
