Updated in December 2020, this guide provides guidance on safe and appropriate management of any complications associated with voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC), standardised identification and grading of adverse events, and monitoring of VMMC programme safety and quality. It is intended for use by service providers who perform male circumcision procedures, as well as non-VMMC providers who perform post-circumcision client reviews. The second edition includes device-related AEs and multiple clinical updates from experience with programme implementation. The latest revisions, which include new adverse event timing classifications for devices and a major revision of the section on device displacement, are documented in the update log. Updates made after the initial 2016 release are available online only.
