Data from population-based surveys measuring willingness to become circumcised in Zambia and Zimbabwe were used to estimate incremental demand for voluntary medical male circumcision and the extent to which devices might be preferred over conventional surgery, assuming availability of surgical VMMC and PrePex in Zimbabwe and of surgical VMMC plus three devices in Zambia. The results were published in a special supplement of the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes about studies on the introduction of the ShangRing and PrePex devices.
