The EngenderHealth Champion Project is a large, innovative HIV prevention project that aims to increase men’s involvement in preventing the spread of HIV and promoting reproductive health (RH) in Tanzania. The project has incorporated voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) into its existing HIV prevention and RH activities in selected areas within Tanzania. Its work has largely been focused on addressing social and gender norms, engaging men, and creating demand for HIV services, such as voluntary counselling and testing. This case study is one of the promising practices in VMMC documented by BBC Media Action in 2013.
