Given the potential impact on cultural practices that VMMC could have in traditionally circumcising communities, it is important to understand the traditional practice of traditional male circumcision so that VMMC services can be scaled up in the most culturally appropriate way possible. As a first step forward, FHI undertook formative research to explore TMC populations and informed the development of a subsequent protocol for this study.
