Introduction and Use of Reusable Instruments in Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Programs

This orientation and resource guide describes considerations for the planning, operation, and maintenance of a reusable surgical instrument inventory, drawing from the implementation experiences of programmes that either always relied on reusables or made the transition away from single-use surgical instruments. The guide summarises insights from the available literature, expert consultations on safe surgery, and programme experience, including feedback from front-line health workers and programme managers. It will be updated as more programmes adopt reusable instruments; the current version can be found on the Project IQ website.
