Separating Fact from Fiction

Although voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) is considered a critical component of HIV prevention, a small group of opponents regularly voice criticisms—unsupported by evidence—against the procedure. This document from AVAC addresses eight of the most common myths and misconceptions about VMCC with strong evidence from peer-reviewed journals supporting the need to accelerate VMCC programmes for HIV prevention in Africa.
