In March 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) opened a call for case studies describing interventions that had been successful in increasing uptake of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC). Two reviewers evaluated each of the submissions based on preset criteria, and WHO selected 11 cases for inclusion in its 2020 VMMC guidelines. Most of these case studies involve the implementation of multiple interventions or strategies to address barriers to uptake of VMMC.
